Her family doesn't want to talk about it because it makes them feel sad. Amber feels she needs to talk to someone about how she has been feeling. Her therapist Allison sat and listened to Amber's thoughts and concerns in a calm environment. Allison gives Amber positive thoughts and reassurance. Amber begins to feel peace within herself, even though she still has progress to make, this is a start.

Session # 3
Amber meets with Allison for the third time. During the session, Amber sits by Allison while she talks and Allison listens and not judges. She is feeling better, sleeping better and her appetite has increased. Amber still feels problems need to be addressed, still feeling the pain, upset, and sadness every time she thinks about her grandparents. Amber wants to talk to her family about how she feels but, they continue to not talk about it due to their sadness. Allison suggests family therapy would be a good idea. Amber feels a sense of relief knowing she has someone to talk to and high hopes of feeling better as the sessions continue. Allison would like to continue meeting with Amber until her symptoms have stopped. Amber still has unresolved issues to deal with.
Just having someone listen to you can be a huge weight off your shoulders!

Session # 9
By this session Amber is feeling better, with most symptoms gone she continues to tell Allison how she feels about the death of her grandparents and realizing grieving is okay and everyone deals with death in their own way. Sometimes, people need help in dealing with certain situations. Allison has gained Amber's trust and their connection with each other has grown. Amber feels she is able to open up to Allison while feeling comfortable and not judged. Amber uses techniques she has learned from Allison to talk to her parents, such as thinking positive, getting her parents attention and telling them she needs to talk to them about her grandparents passing because it is important to her. She mentions family therapy to her parents, if they want to go Amber would appreciate it. She explains therapy has helped her deal with death and it could possibly help them as well. Her family begins to open up to Amber, talking about how they all feel and even though two very special people are gone, they have great memories, loved by many, and had good lives. They will be missed but, not forgotten. Amber goes to one more therapy session with Allison after this.
